History has a shorthand sentence for each President. Abraham Lincoln — freed the slaves. Richard Nixon — first President to resign. Barack Obama — first black President. Historians will look at the toll the current President’s sadistic incompetence has taken on the minds and bodies and souls of those living through the malevolent imbecility of his reign — evidence of which is immortalized all over the internet — and give him his line. Donald Trump — worst President ever.

And that, though certainly true, won’t begin to convey the emotional, intellectual and spiritual deadening we’ve suffered under the Trump presidency. Everyone knew full well that he was a cowardly liar with larceny in his heart. What too few intuited was that there was, in that tiny organ, an equal space reserved for murder. Donald Trump is very pro-death.

Still, he’s leaving. He’s almost gone. The horror movie we’ve all been living in has finally reached the part where the monster is becoming aware of its imminent powerlessness. Donald Trump is facing, for the first time in his at-least-four-years-too-long life, not being in control.
